Our team at the Elite Benefits Group wants to help you get the right insurance for your needs, and for many people, that means enrolling in Medicare. In this article, we’ll provide a brief overview of what exactly Medicare covers so that you can know what to expect.

What Medicare Covers

  • Medicare Part A- First, you should know that Medicare coverage is divided into different parts. Part A, also known as Medicare hospital insurance, covers inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, home health care, hospice, lab tests, and surgery.
  • Medicare Part B- Medicare Part B is also referred to as Medicare Insurance, and it covers outpatient care. This includes things like doctor visits, other health care services, and some preventative treatments (such as diagnostic testing). Durable medical equipment is also covered, as is home health care.
  • Medicare Part D- Part D of Medicare covers the costs of prescription drugs. If you need regular medication to treat or manage an ongoing condition, this part of Medicare will help you afford those medicines and reduce the associated costs.
  • Medicare Advantage- Medicare Advantage plans are an alternative to original Medicare. They  cover many of the same things with some important differences. For instance, many Medicare Advantage plans cover vision and dental services, as well as wellness programs such as gym memberships. Additionally, Advantage plans tend to offer greater flexibility in terms of the services covered, allowing you to get the specific health services you need instead of a one-size-fits-all option. Of course, the details are somewhat more complicated than we can cover here, so if you have questions about Medicare Advantage, we encourage you to give us a call.
